About Art of Peace
Welcome to the 9th Annual Art of Peace. In just a short time, our program has grown from an afternoon of programs to a week-long series of peace activities and programs throughout the city of Tyler. With community-wide participation in creative expressions of peace, Art of Peace celebrates the United Nations International Day of Peace (officially September 21) and Peace One Day.
The aim of Art of Peace is to promote a spirit of creativity, compassion and community through partnerships, fellowship, dialogue, social action, music, poetry, and art.

This video is about “Peace One Day,” the incredible effort by one person to create an international Day of Peace. Art of Peace is proud to be part of this message.
Peace begins in our own backyard. Since Art of Peace began, we have honored various community agencies that have created stability, offered support, shared love, made us stronger, and helped us heal.
For 2019, the Art of Peace Honorees are the People of Tyler!

Art of Peace Prayer
Please feel free to use this prayer in your place of worship – as part of a communal prayer for peace.
ALL-INCLUSIVE ADAPTATION OF PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS
Let me be an instrument of peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
May I not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying to self that we are born to life.
This week and all year long,
may I join others around the world,
as we strive to be active and faithful
instruments of peace.
